Rick Krall

life to creativity and art.
He began his full-time art career at Tamara Backdrops in Chicago. At
Tamara, he produced backdrops used in television commercials ads print
advertising for numerous major clients, including Nike, Hewlett-Packard,
McDonald's, 7-Eleven, Domino's Pizza, and many others.
In 1989, Rick moved to Ann Arbor to work with Tobins Lake Studios. While

backdrops as well.

every major American automotive manufacturer (General Motors, Ford Motor
Company and Chrysler) as well as other manufactures like Volkswagen and
Audi. He has also completed major projects for Henry Ford Museum, the
University of Michigan, Star Theaters, Peterbuilt, and WXYZ Channel 7, among
many others.
Rick has worked on major displays for each of the major American auto
manufacturers to be displayed at the North American International Auto Show
in Detroit, and the Specialty Equipment Manufacturers' Association Show in
Las Vegas. In addition, he has also completed projects for major
electronics manufacturers to be displayed at the Consumer Electronics Show,
also in Las Vegas.
In addition to commercial work, Rick worked as the head designer for the
Gem Theater on one of Detroit's longest running productions, "The All
Night Strut." Other theatrical productions include work at the Fox and
State Theaters in Detroit and the Grand Rapids Ballet Company. He has also
volunteered many hours with the Twin Mask Theater Youth Group in Livingston
County, MI. Rick has also completed several projects for Detroit-area
school districts and churches.
Rick has placed over 350 pieces into private and corporate collections.
He has also had his work on the cover of the Ann Arbor Observer and had
work covered and / or included in numerous other publications, including
Big Ideas Magazine, Livingston County Press, Ann Arbor News, The Detroit News
and the Pine Island News.
After 11 years with Tobins Lake Studios, Rick is proud to announce the
formation of a new studio started in 2001, Lakeside Artworks. In
conjunction with his partner Patty
Krall, Rick and Lakeside Artworks will
continue to offer the same quality service his clients have come to expect.
Lakeside Artworks will continue to offer the same design services,
commercial art, murals, backdrops, paintings, faux-finishes and more.
Lakeside will also introduce residential paint service and a new line of
nature photography to supplant and enhance its traditional services

Patty Krall
Patty has been a full-time artist since 1998, but has worked as a
part-time contractor with Tobins Lake Studios and her partner Rick Krall
since 1993.
She began working as a respiratory therapist in Gladwin, MI in 1973. In
1985, she moved to Howell, MI and worked full-time as an RT until 1992. She
cut back her hours at the hospital to spend more time at home with her
children and to concentrate more on her interesting art and photography.
In 1993, she began her part-time work with Tobins. She lent her talents
to several major projects for theater groups, automotive manufactures,
television commercials, school districts and churches. She also did work in
numerous residential homes, all the while continuing to build a powerful
portfolio of nature photography with a concentration on flowers and flora.
Among the major projects she has worked on are the On Star Batmobile
display at the North American International Auto show, Cranbrook, the Grand
Rapids Ballet Company, Monsoon Audio, Henry Ford Museum, and a massive makeover
of the Rodgers Chevrolet service aisle. Patty was also a semi-finalist in a photography
contest with one of her many flower photographs.
One of the most unique projects she has participated in was the
revitalization of numerous utility poles in Pine Island, FL. Patty and Rick
Krall developed many designs to improve and beautify the landscape of Pine
Island, and worked closely with the city to implement the program. Overall,
they revitalized several utility poles throughout the city.
She has also placed many photographs and paintings in private
collections throughout Ohio, Michigan and Florida.
In addition, she has volunteered many hours with the Twin Mask Theater
Youth Group in Livingston County, MI.
